On June 15, a lecture about David Goldblatt, one of the most renowned South African photographers, was delivered in the museum’s Tolerance Center by Karina Simonson, a museologist, art researcher and PhD candidate.
The attendees were greeted by the head of the Tolerance Center, Ieva Šadzevičienė, who emphasized that very few Lithuanian researchers are studying the culture of South Africa, which remains an undiscovered field. In her comprehensive lecture, K. Simonson spoke about the Lithuanian Jewish ancestry of the prominent photographer, his visit to Lithuania and the Vilna Gaon State Jewish Museum two years ago as well as his creative path. At the second part of the lecture the participants were introduced to seven different photography cycles by D. Goldblatt.
