You're kindly invited to the opening of the exhibition "Above and Beyond the Call of Duty", which will take place on the 14th of November at 5:30 p.m. in Museum's Tolerance Center (Naugarduko St. 10/2, Vilnius). The event is dedicated to the Spanish rescuers of the Jews and to commemoration of the International Day for Tolerance.
Miguel de Lucas, General Director of the Sefarad-Israel Center and Juan Carlos Sanz Briz, son of the Spanish diplomat, called the "Budapest Angel", will be participating at the opening of the exhibition.
During World War II, a group of Spanish diplomats and members of the Spain's Foreign Service, through humanitarian response and respect for human dignity, were able to save thousands of Jews from deportation and extermination. The motives of the rescuers varied: for some, the protection of their countrymen was a legal principle or even a matter of patriotic pride; others were influenced by deep beliefs and principles, Christian or simply humanistic. Many of the heroes of the show are recognized as the Righteous of the Nations.
Partners: Embassy of the Kingdom of Spain in Lithuania.
The event is free. Photos will be taken during the event.
