We are slowly approaching the 100th birth anniversary of a prominent Lithuanian painter Augustinas Savickas, so it was especially pleasant to welcome dear friends of the Museum, Raimondas and Birutė Savickai, at our Tolerance Center. Thanks to Raimondas, who is the son of Augustinas Savickas, Museum’s collections will be supplemented by over 20 artworks and documents related to or created by interwar Lithuanian diplomat Jurgis Savickis, his sons Algirdas and Augustinas, Raimondas himself and his daughter Ramunė Savickaitė-Meškėlienė. The artistic heritage of Savickai family, closely related to the complicated history of the World War II and tragic destinies of Jurgis‘ Jewish wife Ida Trakiner and son Algirdas, will be displayed in Museum‘s Tolerance Center.
