On October 5, Michael J. Abramowitz, President of the Freedom House and ex Director of the U.S. Holocaust Memorial Museum’s Levine Institute for Holocaust Education, who is a Litvak with roots in Kupiškis, visited the Vilna Gaon State Jewish Museum. Mr. Abramowitz and his colleagues were greeted by the museum Director Markas Zingeris, who presented museum’s mission and vision, history, activities, development plans and latest historical research in Paneriai mass killing site. During the meeting, the importance of democracy and dealing with complicated historical past was discussed.
