We kindly invite you to the lecture “Just Is in the Art of Samuel Bak” by Dr. Gary A. Phillips on July 26 at 17:30 in the museum’s Tolerance Center (Naugarduko St. 10/2, Vilnius).
Dr. Phillips is a Professor of Religion at Wabash College in Crawfordsville (Indiana, US). He has been teaching and writing about Samuel Bak's artwork and the deep human questions he raises for more than a decade. In 2018, he authored a book “Just Is in the Art of Samuel Bak” about a series of paintings titled “Just Is”.
According to Dr. Phillips, these paintings aim to demonstrate an “alternative universe where the promise of divine justice is reprised through the lens of the Holocaust world.”
