On July 11-13, seminar for Lithuanian and Latvian educators, organized by Yad Vashem and Mémorial de la Shoah, is held in the museum’s Tolerance Center. The seminar will last three days and will cover a variety of topics, such as history of the Holocaust in the Baltic States as well as challenges and possibilities for Holocaust education.
The seminar was opened by Museum’s Deputy Director Dr. Kamilė Rupeikaitė.
“This cosy hall of the former Jewish theatre has witnessed rich and dynamic cultural life before the extermination of nearly all Jews of Lithuania. Today we are here, because we are and we feel responsible for keeping their memory live, and for teaching the full history of our countries”, Dr. Rupeikaitė said.
Greeting words were also delivered by Dainius Junevičius, Ambassador-at-Large at the Lithuanian Foreign Ministry, Ronaldas Račinskas, Head of the International Commission for the Evaluation of Crimes of the Nazi and Soviet Occupation Regimes in Lithuania, Amir Maimon, Ambassador of the State of Israel to Lithuania, Dr. Einars Semanis, Ambassador of the Republic of Latvia to Lithuania, Jean-Marie Sani, Director of the French Institute in Lithuania, and Bruno Boyer, Head of International Relations at the Memorial de la Shoah in Paris.
