Jokovas Bunka (1923 -2014)

Born and raised in Plungé (Lithuania.) Bunka wanted to be an artist and became the only Jewish folk carver in Lithuanie. He faithfully kept the promise made himself during the war to commemorate sculptures on the massacre sites commemorate the tragedy and victims of the Holocaust. 

Bunka carved all his life. His sculptures depict the poeple of the Jewish community, the ones who lived in his memories : artisans, merchants, pious persons, musicians, characters from jewish folklore and classic literature (hundreds of his scultpures are scattered around the world.)
