Concert of Rzeszow Klezmer Band (Poland)

Project “Tolerance-2010”

On 20 May visitors to the Tolerance Center of the Vilnius Gaon State Jewish Museum had the chance to listen to the Rzeszow Klezmer Ban from Poland, which was founded in 2004. The band’s musicians are Jacek Anyszek (clarinet), Mateusz Chmiel (clarinet), Marcin Mucha (accordion), Wojciech Jajuga (double-base), and Kamil Siciak (percussion). The band has given more than a hundred concerts in Poland, has taken part in various music competitions, and has recorded its music at several radio and television studios. The compositions performed by the Rzeszow Klezmer Band has elements of jazz and traditional European music. During the concert, the audience was pleasantly surprised when the musicians from the Maxwell Street Klezmer Band joined the Polish colleagues and played their numbers.

Those who attended the concerts at the Tolerance Center in May could visit the permanent and temporary exhibitions and see the display of works of Italian photographer Gianluca Capri “Uni-Diversity: A Thousand Faces of the World”, one of the project’s “Tolerance-2010” events.
