| Collection activity | The collection of the Vilna Gaon State Jewish Museum is comprised of items conserved in Lithuanian museums (The Lithuanian Museum of Art, national Museum of Lithuania, the Jewish Museum (1944-1949) and archives, and the remnants of items from the Kaunas Jewish Historical Ethnographic Association (1922-1941), conserved by the Kaunas M. K. Čiurlionis Museum of Art, have been donated to the Museum. The museums collection continuously adds acquired or donated items from personal archives and private collections.
Judaica holdings are classified as primary and academic support collections under the Museum’s statute with consideration of the extant value of the item as a museum piece.
Main collections are comprised of:

Household decorative items, ritual equipment, tangible exhibition pieces of historical significance: metal, wood, leather, cermaics, precious metals, textiles, bone and other materials;
