INTERNATIONAL DAY FOR TOLERANCE WITH ROMANTIC COMEDY „HANA‘S JOURNEY“

Those who have gathered to see the movie "Hanna's Journey" paid the tribute to the innocent victims of Paris terror attack with the minute of silence

The celebration of The International Day for Tolerance took place at the Tolerance Center on the 16th of November, 2015. Warm and romantic movie „Hanna‘s Journey“, directed by Julia von Heinz (2013, Germany/Israel), was screened on the commemorative evening. Partners of this event: The Embassy of the Federal Republic of Germany in Vilnius and The Goethe Institute in Lithuania.

Head of the Tolerance Center Ieva Šadzevičienė has commented the plot of the movie: „Hana, the protagonist of the movie, understands that history influents the present. In this movie the questions are raised: how the united history affects the lives of German and Israeli. We know that love is the biggest force: it unites all the people of the world. Today we won‘t succumb to the fear and mistrust, but will celebrate the Day for Tolerance with our open hearts, understanding that where is love, there is no place for hate“.

Director of the Geothe Institute in Lithuania Detlef Gericke presented the movie Director Julia von Heinz. Her successful cinematographic work was recognized and awarded: among the other awards Director received the Cinematic Award of Bavaria and Germany. The artistic editorial commission of iTunes selected Julia‘s von Heinz comedy „Hanna‘s Journey“ as the movie of the year in 2014.

Unfortunately this year the celebration of the International Day for Tolerance was overshadowed by the terror attacks in France, which took place on the 13th of November, taking the lives of many innocent people. I. Šadzevičienė invited all the guests of the Tolerance Center to pay the tribute for the victims of the terror attacks in Paris with the minute of silence, marking that these crimes were made not only against the armless people, but also against the whole Western civilization, which values we share.
